For years people told me gratitude was the key. I understood it intellectually. I even believed it. But I couldn’t feel it — couldn’t get underneath the phrase to the actual frequency of it.

Then the hardest years arrived. A divorce. A serious operation. The grief of watching a family life dissolve. Nights where sleep wouldn’t come, and I’d put on meditation recordings just to give my mind somewhere to go. I don’t remember most of what they said. I remember waking one morning as though someone had said something directly to me.

The Attitude is Gratitude.

I started a 20-minute morning practice. Just that. Just sitting with what was still there. And the days began to change.

But here’s the part I didn’t expect: gratitude isn’t only about what you have. It’s also about what’s coming. There’s a version of gratitude that looks backwards — counting your blessings, appreciating the past. That version helps. It got me through.

The version that changed everything looks forward. It’s the feeling of knowing — not wishing, knowing — that your life is moving somewhere worth going. That something good is already in motion, already on its way to you. You feel grateful for it before it exists. And that feeling — held every morning, before the day tells you whether it’s worth holding — is not passive. It is the most active thing you can do. It is how you become someone to whom good things happen.

Gratitude gets you through the dark times. It also builds the next chapter.

Until you can feel what you already have — and what is coming — it is very difficult to step into who you are becoming.

Gratitude is not a feeling you wait for. It is a frequency you choose. Before the day tells you whether it's worth choosing.

This print is that reminder. Every morning.
